Comparative toxicity and IGR effects of neem (Azadirachta indica a. Juss.) fresh fruit, seed and coat extracts against 4th instar larvae of Anopheles stephensi Liston

Extracts from neem fresh fruit seed (FFS) and fresh fruit coat (FFC) were tested to compare the toxicity and IGR effects against the fourth instar larvae of Anopheles stephensi Liston according to WHO method. FFC was found to be more effective and better IGR than FFS. The LC50 of FFS was found to be 784 ppm, while that of FFC was found to be 290 ppm. FFS contains azadirachtin whereas FFC is devoid of azadirachtin and has other compounds, including azadiradione, epoxyazadiradione, meliacinin and azadironic acid.
