COASTAL ZONE AND TOURISM SERVICES DYNAMICS IN MORRO BRANCO, BEBERIBE, STATE OF CEARA

This paper comprises an analysis of the main categories and types of touristic services on the Morro Branco beach, located in the city of Beberibe, Ceara. Travel and tourism have boosted the land occupation process and attracted the visitor-related third sector in Ceara. The public planning and private initiative shares have played a part in the production of coastal space by means of infrastructure, firms and businesses. Thus, the development of the urbanization process came to the fore in view of leisure. Morro Branco is inserted in as a major tourist destination, where the process of urbansation takes place by means of hotel ventures and second houses. Regarding the methodological procedures, the mapping using Google Maps stands out, and in its turn, the fieldwork and observation. It has been found that the enterprises are well disseminated througout the tourist area with predominance of more traditional services, such as inns and restaurants, aimed at a less demanding public. We further highlight the buggy rides as services that are more dynamic, capable of driving the arrival of other socioeconomic activities.
