摘要
In a previous paper (Rodera and Bagajewicz, 1999a) opportunities for energy savings by heat integrating across plants were identified making use of a systematic targeting procedure. The targets obtained by this procedure are employed in this paper for the synthesis of multipurpose heat exchanger networks that are capable to operate each plant separately as well as integrated. Based in mathematical models, designs for direct integration using process streams and indirect integration using intermediate fluids are obtained.
