摘要
Efforts to recycle aluminium objects including alloy material are frequently complicated by Fe and Mn components of the alloys, causing the appearance of intermetallic phases during the secondary casting process. A variety of methods exist to reduce the occurrence of such intermetallic phases, such as the introduction of convection via electromagnetic stirring. To gain a deeper understanding of such casting processes we present a sharp interface model which allows us to predict the evolution of precipitate growths under the influence of forced convection. Furthermore, we have-also studied the impact of convection on the morphology of these precipitates, as well as the influence of different inflow velocities and Peclet numbers on the volume fraction of the precipitation.
