Processing Bi-2212/Ag thick films under a high magnetic field: on the Bi-2212/Ag interface effect

Bi-2212/Ag thick films have been melt-processed under the influence of a 10 T magnetic field. With a liquid phase present, the Bi-2212,grain orientation can be controlled by the magnetic field. Under these conditions, the c-axis of the Bi-2212 grains produced is always parallel to the applied magnetic field direction and does not depend on the Bi-2212/Ag interface orientation. As a result, a 10 T magnetic field enhances the Bi-2212 grain orientation and texture development for thick films. (C) 1998 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
