Synthesis of gamma-linolenic acid and carotenoids by fungi mucorales

摘要
The ability to synthesize gamma-linolenic acid and carotenoids was studied in 42 strains of fungi mucorales belonging to 22 species of the genera Mucor and Rhizopus. The highest yield of gamma-linolenic acid was found in fungi of the species Mucor circinelloides (from 20 to 31 mg/g of absolutely dry biomass). The highest yield of carotenoids was found in fungi of the species Mucor hiemalis (from 3.6 to 8.2 mg/g of lipids).
