A new pedagogy to non-English majors in China's higher education

摘要
The author, based on the belief held by Brown, Anthony, Richards & Rodgers and Mckay, who have sorted out basic ideas on language teaching, attempts to advance a new model for non-English majors in China's higher education. Contrary to traditional methodology generally adopted by teachers in colleges and universities in China, the new pedagogy, in the case of problems confronting students, involves changing students' attitude toward English learning, enlarging their vocabulary by a word-association approach and plunging themselves into an interactive classroom discussion. Therefore students can be dramatically improved in efficient reading, precious taking in and expressing ideas and critical thinking and graceful writing.
