Report on the sugar campaign 2006/07 in the Czech Republic

The past sugar campaign 2006/07 was characterized by a high technological quality of the processed beet and excellent climatic conditions throught the growing and treatment season. The average sugar content has surpassed 18.48 % in Czech republic. A total of 2.812 millions of ton of beet were processed with an average yield of 50.4 t/ha of sugar beet and 9.31 t/ha of polarisation sugar. The total processing time of sugar beet was 88 days, and the total production of white sugar from beet was 467.4 kt. it is about 91 thousand t less than last campaign. Ten sugar factories were operating in the Czech Republic during the past sugar campaign, the total capacity was 41 406 tons per day while one of the factories had surprassed 11.850 tons in a single day. The data confirm the fact that the Czech Republic with a 200 year tradition of sugar beet production is amongst the leading sugar producers in the European Union.
