摘要
In China, though majority of its industrial CO2 emissions is concentrated in the power sector (38%), nearly 15 % are from its iron and steel sector. While there are alternative energies in the power sector which are free from carbon emissions, substantial CO2 reductions in the industrial sectors such as iron and steel remain relatively difficult. This paper outlines the results of a feasibility study conducted by Toshiba Corporation in collaboration with Tongfang Environment Co., Ltd., in applying CO2 capture onto a steel plant in China. With support of Shougang Jingtang United Iron & Steel Company, Toshiba and Tongfang studied the technical feasibility of applying post-combustion capture technology onto their Caofeidian Steel Plant. Two CO2 emission sources were identified, and combination with heat sources for carbon capture was also investigated.
