Dust control techniques in a mechanised longwall face

The introduction of state of the art coal production machines has helped in improving productivity and achieving growing demand of coal. Although, longwall mining offers many advantages, it has increased the level of dustiness in coal mines. Coal dust, apart from affecting visibility and being explosive when air-borne, is a health hazard, which is the sole cause of coal miner's pneumoconiosis. Dust control techniques developed recently are very useful for controlling airborne respirable dust in mechanized longwall faces.
