The Prosthetic Rehabilitation of an Edentulous Lower Jaw by a CAD/CAM-manufactured Individual Titanium Bar on Four Interforaminal Implants A Case Report

Prosthodontic restorations in combination with implants in edentulous jaws as implant-supported overdentures offer a comfortable and efficient rehabilitation providing sufficient long-term data. Since the beginning of implant prosthodontics implant-borne bar constructions even today mostly are manufactured by the labour-intensive lost wax technique utilizing expensive gold-alloys. By the implementation of computer supported three-dimensional diagnostic, planning and manufacturing in prosthetic dentistry, today precise prosthetic reconstructions including frameworks for bar-retained prostheses can be fabricated. The utilization of further developing CAD/CAM-technologies facilitate the dental technician's work while ensuring a constant level of quality and providing additional advantages such as decreased material costs compared to gold-alloy-frameworks. The present case report presents the entire, prosthetic-orientated, virtually designed (CAD) and automated fabrication of a titanium bar framework (CAM) using the Compartis (R) ISUS System (Degudent, Hanau, Germany) for the prosthetic rehabilitation of an edentulous lower jaw with four interforaminal implants.
