摘要
The paper deals with the study of the compatibility in diluted solution of two natural polymers possessing a polyelectrolyte character - xanthan and gelatine. The influence of the pH, temperature and weight ratio of the polymers on the compatibility was investigated. The estimation of the compatibility and the nature of the polymer interactions was made by means of viscometric measurements and Huggins constants. It was found that, depending on the pH of the system, the performed interpolymer bonds may be of a ionic (between functional groups) or physical nature. When the pH < 4, the phase separation takes place. For the mixture which does not possess phase separation, the nature of the polymer interactions is influenced by temperature and weight ratio of the polymers. (C) 2001 Elsevier Science Ltd.
