摘要：

This paper describes the work of Will Light, who died on December 8th, 2002. It highlights his contributions in the study of minimal norm projections, tensor product approximation (including the convergence of the Diliberto-Straus algorithm), proximinality, radial and ridge function approximation, both via quasi-interpolation and interpolation. My aim is not only to describe the impact of Will's work, but also to convey some of his impact as a person.
