摘要
Recent developments in electronics and communication technologies have resulted in more about an increase in the costs of network installation and content distribution. WMNs have been considered as means to reduce costs of network installation and to reach out to more users. As opposed to WMNs, fixed infrastructure networks have well-established schemes for content distribution, the most prominent among these being the bit-torrent protocol and the use of distributed servers to serve content. Wireless ad-hoc mesh networks face numerous challenges pertaining to the nature of the underlying wireless medium and unreliability of the network infrastructure; thus, most of the schemes that have worked successfully for infrastructure networks do not necessarily work for WMNs. In this paper, a scheme for content hosting in wireless mesh network infrastructures was proposed. Secondly, a heterogeneous scheme for content distribution in WMNs, which recognizes the fact that different types of content require different kinds of quality-of-service guarantees, was proposed. The scheme utilizes information-centric appliactions running on server nodes within the mesh network.
