摘要
Limited information is available on response of somatic tissues to differentiate and develop plantlets in vitro from callus culture of cumin (Cuminum cyminum L.). In the present study, seeds from local cultivar of cumin were germinated on Murashige and Skoog medium (MS) without plant growth regulators. Different types of explant from the growing seedling (cotyledonary leaves and hypocotyl) were cultured on MS medium. The medium contained different concentrations of 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid (2,4-D) either alone or plus Kinetin. Differential responses were observed in the induction and development of callus due to explant type and plant growth regulators added to the medium. Whole plantlets were recovered. The protocol can be developed for purpose of in vitro selection for resistant to fusarium wilt which is consider as a serious disease of cumin.
