Public communication, political representation and civil society: scenario of weakening in the current Brazilian conjuncture?

This paper proposes a critical reflection on political representation in contemporary times, considering spaces such as civil society organizations and public policy councils, and their relations with public communication. We understand that public communication requires the participation of society and its segments: not only as recipients of government communication, but mainly as active producers in the communication process. From the theoretical approach developed based on bibliographic and documentary survey we show that the different forms of representation are relevant to the understanding of public communication as a process of empowerment of citizens and civil society. Therefore, the reduction of the spaces of representation, especially the councils, may mean the cooling of how we perceive public communication in these spheres.
