Colored TZ-3YS zirconia substructures were fabricated by adding Fe2O3, CeO2 and Er2O3 following by isostatic pressing and sintering. The bending strength was tested and XRD and SEM were used to analyze the characteristics of the microstructure. Results show that there were no other crystal structure other than zirconia was found after adding pigments; the main crystal phase was tetragonal, and a little monoclinic phase was observed. The bending strength of zirconia adding Fe2O3 and CeO2 was slightly lower than that of uncolored zirconia, and the fracture surface show transverse granular fracture similar with that of uncolored zirconia; however, when Er2O3 was added, the bending structure was reduced significantly, and SEM shows more pores and coagulations in the bulk structure.
