Capacity of Full-duplex Wireless Networks with Mixture of Concurrent and Sequential Transmission Scheme

Full-duplex (FD) communication has been as attractive as the potential technology for future wireless communication. By eliminating self-interference signal, the FD system that is able to transmit and receive at the same time over single time/frequency channel brings double the capacity of wireless network with the half-duplex (HD) system in theoretically. However, the co-channel interference signals still affect as the potential thread of throughput degradation regardless of HD or FD systems especially in the highly dense wireless network environment. This paper studies the simultaneous transmission schemes and introduces a novel transmission scheme, called mixture of concurrent and sequential transmission (MCST) scheme to deal with the co-channel interference signals during the simultaneous transmission. The performance of the proposed MCST scheme in terms of achievable throughput and total interference power is revealed using computer simulations.
