On the Imbalance of Interior Regional Structure of China's Foreign Trade and the Regional Economic Disparity

This paper studies the imbalance of interior regional structure of China's foreign trade and the primary factors of the imbalance. The official data on foreign trade, as reported in China Statistical Yearbooks, are adopted to investigate the development and the characteristics of economy and trade in four regions. Furthermore, using data about 31 Chinese provinces of 2015, this paper sheds light on the correlation between interior regional structure imbalance and the regional economic disparity. We find that capital stock, labor number as well as development level of foreign trade in different regions affect the regional disparity of economic development in China and the interior regional structure imbalance enlarges the regional economic disparity.
