Environmentally conscious process planning and its multi-objective decision making

Environmental factors will be put more emphasis on in the next generation manufacturing industry. Environmentally conscious process planning (ECPP) is taken as an effective strategy to improve the environmentally consciousness of manufacturing systems. The environmental factors in manufacturing processes are analyzed from the three aspects of resource consumption, environmental impact and occupational health and safety. And a system framework of ECPP is presented to describeits objectives, processes and contents. Coupled with a case study, the multi-objective decision making in ECPP are also discussed on basis of AHP, in which the three environmental factors are taken into account.
