摘要
This work aims to present educational horizons of Popular Environmental Education and Education for Sustainable Development. Through a hermeneutic approach, it presents and discusses the foundations of each perspective. One of the conclusions of the bibliographical research is to recognize the impossibility of merging these horizons. It also recognizes the strength of neoliberal policies in achieving the goals of international agendas that, often without going deeper into the debate, offer magic solutions that do not promote emancipation. The study defends the horizon of Popular Environmental Education for Latin America and the Caribbean, as it considers a critical horizon that problematizes colonialist paths, reinforces identity and belonging and is guided by a collective project of society far beyond the logic of the market. Represented in the cases of Brazil and Mexico, this education can serve as a reference for other contexts in which the transformation of society through education is sought.
