X-ray diffraction tomography: Image reconstruction and applications

摘要
Summation-convolution-back-projection is a popular method used for image reconstruction in conventional transmission computed tomography, and produces high quality images. A more recently developed technique is that of x-ray diffraction tomography where the above reconstruction approach has limited applicability, and an iterative method is required due to the non-linear nature of the problem. In this paper a new reconstruction strategy is presented that accounts for the x-ray attenuation of both the incident beam and the scattered beam. This approach is checked using a Monte Carlo simulation of photon transport through the specimen.
