摘要：
The study of the ichthyofauna of the Hlan River was studied between August 2004 and January 2005. Fish samples were provided from artisanal and experimental fishing. The fish fauna contained 43 species belonging to 35 genera and 22 families. The cichlids encompassed 8 species (20.5 % of the total ichthyofauna of the river) then, there were the mormyrids, cyprinids and claroteids with 5, 3 and 3 species respectively. Polypteridae, Notopteridae, Characidae, Clariidae, Aplocheilidae and Channidae were represented by two species each. One new species, never recorded in Benin (Gnathonemus petersii), was observed.
