An innovative method for the installation of offshore wind turbines

摘要
Emergence of offshore wind turbine as an extremely promising renewable energy resource has transformed the future of marine applications and ship design. The objective of this paper is to present a smart and efficient mechanism for installing an offshore wind turbine at water depths more than 200 meters without relying on existing high lift offshore cranes. The integration of this mechanism into the design of a construction vessel in order to meet the future market demand is tested and verified in this project. The paper is primarily structured around three phases. A design phase in which a new offshore wind turbine deployment mechanism is developed by considering manufacturability and material selection. An analysis phase that ensures the structural stability of the concept using NX Nastran and a simulation phase that verifies the kinematic stability of the design using NX motion simulation.
