Low-cost aluminum tubes for hydroforming applications

摘要
Low-cost aluminum tubes made of continuous casting sheet 5754-CC were evaluated for hydroforming applications, and compared with extruded 6063 seamless tubes and scam-welded 5754-DC tubes (made from direct-chill cast aluminum sheet). The results show that the low cost 5754-CC tubes offer acceptable formability upon bending and hydroforming, as well as good mechanical properties after hydroforming. The microstructural evolution of the materials during bending and hydroforming was also investigated.
