摘要
Increasing water-requirements of the people of all the regions partially to produce more food grains to feed the ever increasing population and to satisfy the increasing industrial and domestic use of water coupled with the fact that total consumable water-resource of the world is limited and a large portion of which is being wasted has shifted the attention of the water-resource managers across the world on the need to conserve and utilize water as efficiently as possible. Canal automation provides a tool for minimizing the wastage of water by utilizing the recent developments in the computing and communication facilities. This paper analyses the reasons and methodology to be adopted for canal automation.
