摘要：

Realism, the most important literary current in modem China, was caused by historical complications. Russian culture played a crucial role in the process of the development of modern Chinese literature. This paper tries to trace out how Russian culture helped to bring about the realistic current in modern China, and why modern Chinese intelligentsia chose Russian realism and how they comprehended Russian realism.
