LIF detection of the IO-radical and kinetics of the reactions I+O3→IO+O2, O(3P)+I2+IO+I, O(3P)+CH3I→IO+CH3 and O(3P)+CF3I→IO+CF3 in the temperature range 230 to 310 K

Laser induced fluorescence (LIF) from the (2,0) and (3,0) band of the A(2)II(3/2)<--(XII3/2)-I-2 transition of IO was detected. Using this detection, the rate constants for the reactions (1) I+O-3-->IO+O-2, (2) O(P-3)+I-2-->IO+I, (3) O(P-3)+CH3I-->IO+CH3 and (4) O(P-3)+CF3I-->IO+CF3 were determined. Reactions (1), (3) and (4) were investigated over the temperature range 230 to 310 K, whereas reaction (2) was measured only at 295 K. The rate constants for these reactions can be described by the following Arrhenius expressions: k(1)(T)=(1.6+/-1.2).10(-11).exp[-(750+/-194)K/T]cm(3) molecule(-1)s(-1) k(2)(295K)=(1.3+/-0.15).10(-10)cm(3) molecule(-1) s(-1) k(3)(T)=(6.2+/-1).10(-12).exp[(341+/-37)K/T]cm(3) molecule(-1) s(-1) k(4)(T)=(1.3+/-0.5).10(-11).exp[-(266+/-85)K/T] cm(3) molecule(-1) s(-1).
