Species composition of microscopic fungi in urban snow cover

摘要
The content and species composition of microscopic fungi in the snow cover of the Moscow megalopolis and in a suburban area (control) were studied. Sterile (non-spore-forming) fungi proved to dominate the snow cover. In the roadside zones of urban areas, the population density of dark-colored melanin-containing fungi (including pycnidial forms) increased, probably because of their higher resistance to automobile exhaust.
