Numerical flow simulation for optimization of waste grate firing with different boiler loads

摘要
Within the research and development project "Numerical Simulation of waste incineration" a grate model was developed and implemented into the CFD-Code LORA to carry out a detailed numerical simulation of Municipal Solid Waste incineration. Using this software package the influence of different primary and secondary air configurations was investigated at several boiler loads and fuel properties. The numerical results of the basic case were compared with measurements by the TUV to check observation of legislative limitations of 17. BImSchV. It was demonstrated, that the numerical flow simulation and underlying grate model are an economical and flexible tool for such investigations.
