Strengthening of wooden floors by means of improved lime mortar slab

摘要
Rehabilitation of historical buildings often requires the stiffening of wooden floors in order to reduce the structure deformability in service conditions. In the case of valuable historical structures, problems such as the compatibility of the new and the existing materials can be as important as strength and stiffness issues. In these cases the common solution of the reinforced concrete slab might be unsuitable. In this scenario, a new strengthening solution based on the use of compatible improved lime mortars in substitution of the cementitious composites is proposed and discussed in this paper. The feasibility and the effectiveness of the proposed solution is analytically investigated and it is verified by local and global experimental tests.
