Dementia special care unit and management of severely demented patients:: An experience

摘要：
The medical records of 17 demented patients (with severe cognitive impairment and behavioral disturbances) have been examined. These patients stayed in a functional dementia special care unit (DSCU), being open also for the other institutionalized elderly people. The statistical evaluation of the cognitive and behavioral parameters demonstrate the efficacy of this DSCU in the management of behavioral disorders of severely demented people. The results are comparable with those of the relevant literature.
