摘要：

The paper analyses the principles of the sustainable development of the urban transport system and special attention is focused to the road safety. It is evaluated policies, they lead to unsustainable transport system and policies, they promote sustainable transport - increase transportation diversity and reduce travel demand. For reduction of high level of road accident is defined the measures such as implementing effective road safety program.
