Virtual instrumentation applied to monitoring of nuclear reactor refuel process

RMH provided complete turnkey services ices for a custom, high-performance monitoring and alarming system to track the condition and behavior of Wolf Creek Nuclear Generation Station's nuclear reactor and cooling water piping during refuel cycles. Using National Instruments' LabVIEW and hardware, the RMH system comprised five data collection units, a high-speed network, and a workstation with a real-time relational database. Our challenge was to provide a fast, reliable source of data about reactor and cooling water piping behavior to streamline the refuel process by utilizing National Instruments' virtual instrumentation products to create a real-time, high-speed monitoring and alarming system.
