摘要：
English for Specific Purposes (ESP) is a practical, purposeful and well received English teaching approach. It has not yet reached a mature stage at the colleges and universities in our country for no good solution to ESP in English teaching Position and the shortage of ESP teachers. In view of this situation, this article states the meaning, the classification, the development and the principles of ESP, and points out that cultivated qualified teachers for ESP and perfect the teaching pattern and system is a guarantee to ESP's effect.
