Classification Characteristics of Insurance Products in the Agrarian Business Activity of Ukraine

The article presents the results of the research into the Ukrainian market of agrarian insurance in the context of classical and parametric insurance schemes. According to the results of the conducted research it has been found that at the current stage the market uses a sufficient number of insurance products that correspond to the international standards according to their quality characteristics. It has been noted that there is a trend to expand the range and quality of insurance services for agrarian producers in the context of the above mentioned insurance schemes.It has been determined that according to the classical scheme agricultural risks were insured in the context of multi-risk and mono-risk insurance products, and according to the parametric scheme - in the context of weather and harvest index insurance products.It has been found that innovative insurance products that have become widespread in the international practices due to their simplicity and availability, in particular within index insurance schemes, are used at the national markets as pilot projects, which creates considerable potential for their further development, taking into account their numerous advantages. As for Ukrainian insurance practice, it is limited to two main types of index insurance products: weather index and harvest index, with weather index insurance products being predominant. Among classical insurance products at the Ukrainian agrarian insurance market, multi-risk insurance products are the most widespread (both in winter and spring-autumn period), because they provide complete and complex insurance protection of agrarian crops in general and field crops in particular. The prospects of both insurance schemes in the Ukrainian insurance practice consist in a further expanding of the product line within each scheme, aimed at the needs of agricultural producers.
