A model for cracking in fibre-reinforced concrete structures

After a quick review concerning the probabilistic discrete cracking model relative to non-steel fibre reinforced concrete (Rossi probabilistic discrete cracking model) and a critical analysis of its extension to steel fibre reinforced concrete, a new Rossi probabilistic discrete cracking model applied to steel fibre reinforced concrete is proposed. In this model, cracking is modelled through contact elements which will have a perfect elastic-plastic behavior with brittle fracture. The plastic step as well as the postcracking energy are uncorrelated random variables. Numerical work still remains, consisting in adapting the existing contact elements to the case of perfect elastic-plastic behavior with brittle fracture, as well as work on a suitable resolution algorithm.
