摘要：

In Umbria (Central Italy) the Regional Environmental Protection Agency (ARPA) is monitoring the groundwater quality of the principal alluvial and carbonate aquifers of the region. The results of the monitoring activity point out that diffuse nitrate contamination is the main problem affecting the alluvial aquifers followed by local and diffuse contamination events with pesticides, hydrocarbons, AOX and heavy metals. In contrast, the waters discharged by the springs of the carbonate-evaporite aquifers are practically unpolluted and their protection is a primary objective of the local environmental authorities.
