International trends in stroke mortality

Diverging trends in stroke mortality have been observed during the last decades. In most countries, the change in stroke mortality, seems to be mostly attributable to changes in case-fatality rather than in stroke incidence. Reasons and consequences of this observation are weighted in the presentation.
