摘要
In this paper, we estimate the changes in the tropospheric gas composition in the zonal belt between 30degrees and 60degrees N caused by a possible emission of methane accumulated in oceanic gas hydrates and in the permafrost area. Two emission cases are considered, corresponding to either a four- or tenfold increase in the atmospheric methane mass as compared to its current value. Changes in the content of the key atmospheric admixtures (ozone, hydroxyl, carbon monoxide, nitrogen oxides, etc.) caused by this emission are discussed and analyzed. The calculations were performed using the two-dimensional channel (altitude-longitude) photochemical transport model developed at the Voeikov Main Geophysical Observatory.
