摘要
The most important and widely used categories of shopping bags are: plastic [PE], paper, nonwoven [PP] and woven [Cotton] bags. This study revolves around the LCA [Cradle to Gate] of above mentioned shopping bag varieties. Cradle to Gate assessment was performed with a secondary data for all shopping bags. Life cycle impact assessment [LCIA] was accomplished by the eco-indicator' 99, a damage oriented method for LCIA in SIMAPRO 7.1. Comparative LCA results calculated by the Eco-indicator 99 were considered as a directive to compare the environmental impact made by these bags and a detailed explanation of results is provided in this article. From the results, it is found that reusable shopping bags- -nonwoven bags followed by woven bags are found to create lower environmental impacts compared to single use plastic and paper bags.
