A heuristic caching strategy for web servers based on the binary knapsack model

摘要
This letter shows that the main memory cache replacement algorithm for Web servers can be modeled as a dynamic binary knapsack problem. Based on the mathematical model, a cache replacement algorithm LEU(Least Efficiently Used) for web server is proposed Empirical studies demonstrate that the hit rate by the LEU is better than those by the LRU or the LFU.
