摘要
Because of their unique experience, college athletes appear to be in great need of career services. There are a number of factors that are a part of competing in sport at the college level, such as sport commitment, time, and athletic identity, that are necessary for success in sport. Unfortunately, these factors may be somewhat detrimental to the student-athlete's career development. While university career centers could certainly help these collegiate athletes, it appears that these students do not frequent the career center. Thus, as career professionals, we must take proactive outreach steps. Collaborating with the athletic department, appreciating the athletic experience, and designing programs accordingly will be important parts of the process. The intervention model presented in this article, designed to address the student-athlete in a holistic manner, is one possible approach.
