Electronic transport in disordered inorganic and organic semiconductors

Electrical transport in disordered semiconductors is reviewed with the attempt to give a unifying view on the models and theories for inorganic and organic branch of this recent development. After giving the main ideas inherent to disordered solid state, mainly in the direction of the band theory, the prevailing theories of electrical transport in both inorganic and organic disordered semiconductors are enumerated. The hopping type of transport with the thermalization in either exponential or Gaussian bands is discussed in more detail with an attempt to assess the areas of applicability of either of them. The application the charge transport in disordered semiconductors is briefly mentioned.
