A Semantic Multi-Modal Information Retrieval Approach based on Linked Data to Multimedia Convergent Environments

摘要
The Interactive Digital TV (IDTV) technology provides a set of information about its content via embedded metadata. However, such metadata does not present a semantic description, so that applications are not able to recover important information related to TV programs from other platforms, such as Internet. This additional information could, for example, improve the user experience using multimedia resources displayed over the TV stream. This paper proposes a Semantic Query approach based on the Semantic Web concepts, which enriches the metadata information via semantic relationships using data from the Linked Data cloud. The cross-platform aspect of this approach is demonstrated via the execution of a demo. Initial results show the potential of this approach mainly when compared to other current techniques.
