摘要
Multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) radars offer increased angular resolutions compared to conventional radars, based on a virtual enlargement of the physical antenna array by means of digital signal processing. In this paper, we show that the angular resolution of MIMO radars can be further increased by combining MIMO processing with an array extrapolation method based on Burg's algorithm. Moreover, we demonstrate that Burg's algorithm is also able to interpolate missing virtual antenna elements caused by failure of physical receive antennas. Measurements conducted with Hensoldt's compact 3D MIMO radar demonstrator serve as a basis to validate our findings.
