Public expenditure for health services in Sinaloa

The objective of this work is to show the evolution of public spending on health, during the period 1993-2017, for the uninsured population in the State of Sinaloa, Mexico. In this way, information on health economics that has not been investigated in this federative entity is explored. The present study is based on disaggregated information, through which comparisons are made of public expenditure on health with respect to the State Gross Domestic Product (PIBE), public expenditure on health with respect to total expenditure and budget of the Contribution Fund for Health Services (FASSA). This data can be useful for those responsible for designing public health policies in Sinaloa. The sample was not probabilistic, selected in accordance with the statistical data and consultation of documents that were available. The most important finding is the practice of unclear rules in the allocation of resources, so it is suggested the implementation of transparent criteria in the distribution of the expenditure made by the state public administration towards the medical units that have the Ministry of Health (SS) in the territory of Sinaloa.
