230Th/234U and isoleucine epimerization dating of quaternary marine deposits in western Peloponnesus (Greece)

摘要
Pleistocene sediments exposed in the western Peloponnesus were dated by Th-230/U-234 and Isoleucine Epimerization measurements in Cladocora coespitosa and in Glycymeris sp. collected samples respectively, from marine terraces in four locations within the Ellis graben which was formed in the middle Pliocene. The dating results indicate a pre-Tyrrhenian interglacial age (middle Pleistocene) for all the sampled beds. The altitude approximate to 91 m a.s.l. reflect a shoreline during isotopic stage 11. The altitudes 115 m a.s.l., 102 m a.s.l. and 104 m a.s.l. reflect a shoreline during isotopic stage 7. The estimated rates of net uplift in the examined sections are 0.6 mm/yr and 0.5 mm/yr. Moreover, the average rate of sedimentation during the interglacial preceding the Tyrrhenian one is about 0.20 mm/yr.
