摘要
The paper examines the evolution of software service innovation mode, which contributes to the understanding of innovation activities in software services. Through the review of the extant literatures, ad hoc innovation is recognized as the basic form of innovation in software service firms. Based on empirical research on innovation in software services, two dimensions are identified to explain the evolution of ad hoc innovation. The three sub-modes of ad hoc innovation, which are wholly customized innovation, innovation through second customized development, and innovation through module configuration, are highlighted and illustrated.
