Surface plasmon resonance interferometer for bio- and chemical-sensors

摘要
An interferometric method for the detection of the phase shifts of reflected light under Surface Plasmon Resonance (SPR) conditions due to refractive index changes is proposed and experimentally realized. The sensitivity threshold of the method to a refractive index variation Delta n is estimated to be 4X10(-8). The proposed SPR-interferometer provides spatial phase resolution and thus enables to take into account the peculiarities of refractive index distribution over the surface of an SPR-supporting film. It can be successfully applied in bio- and chemical-sensor systems. (C) 1998 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
